Hi, My name is Mark Michal and I’m the Director of Cru in the Fishers area. God continues to use Cru to impact the lives of teenagers all over the Fishers area and every Spring we set aside an evening to gather the community and share what God is doing. This year’s Cru Vision Dessert will be held on Thursday, March 16, in the FHS main cafeteria. This will be a very special evening celebrating the amazing ways God is working in and through High School students.
As we prepare for this event, we are asking parents, friends, and community members to consider being a TABLE HOST for this event? We wanted to ask you to consider helping us in this way. Here’s what that entails.
1) FILL A TABLE
The main role of a table host is to recruit people to attend the event. Each table has 8 chairs so you would We usually see a lot of parents of teenagers attend, but also parents of younger children in the community, teachers, friends from church and family members. I’ll give you some steps on how to invite in a moment.
2) BE “HOSTISH” THAT NIGHT
You’ll come a little early and just act as a “host” to the group of people that attend that night, help your people feel comfortable as they arrive, we’ll have some thing that you give them at the table, that kind of thing.
So, that’s what we’re asking you to do. It’s not a really difficult role, but it is a crucial role for our event and we would be honored if you would join us in it.
Here are the steps we would recommend for you to FILL A TABLE…
1. Brainstorm a list of people.
Sit down with your spouse and think through who you could invite to this event. Think about parents of students K-12 in the area, neighbors, friends from church, really anyone who might be encouraged to hear how God is transforming lives of students. We are trusting God that each table host would invite people to fill a table for 8 people.
2. Send out your invitations.
This year we aren’t doing paper invitations. Instead, we will have an e-mail invitation that you can send and we will be pushing people to cruindy.com/visiondessert where they can see a video about the dessert and register. As people often fill their schedules fairly early on, we would suggest that you send these invitations out soon.
3. Call people back.
We throw a lot of events in Cru and we find that when we call people back to get an answer, we get a much higher rate of attendance than when we just throw it out and expect them to respond. Maybe it’s a text or email instead of a call, the point is it is important to ask for a response. We encourage you to do this early enough that you can as others in case your first round of people aren’t able to attend. (2 days after you send your invite)
4. Remind them.
Once you have a table of 8 people, send them a reminder text or email as the event gets closer. Many people simply forget and it is helpful to get a quick reminder text saying, “I”m looking forward to seeing you at Cru Vision Dessert on Thursday night!. Let me know if you have any questions!” (the week of the event)
This is our main fundraising event of the year for Cru. An opportunity to invest in this ministry will be given for those interested. Whether someone wants to participate in giving or not is fine, we just want to give the community an opportunity to hear the Vision of Cru and all the ways students lives are being impacted.
Thank you so much for considering being a Table Host for this exciting event. Please let Belinda Pastor know to let her know if you would like to be a host or not and she will help you take your first steps as a Table Host. Thank you so much! I look forward to seeing you at the Cru Vision Dessert!
